About Armenia

Actually Armenia is one of the oldest countries of the world.  It is the first Christian country in the world. It is situated at a cultural, historical, and religious intersection and located at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, in the southern Transcaucasia. Its name is among six countries depicted on a Babylonian map dating back to the 5th century B.C. Armenia is situated within the same geographical latitude as Spain, Italy and Greece. That might be the reason, that, like the people of the above mentioned countries, Armenians have a strong striving for arts and seek beauty and harmony in everything. The first historical information about Armenian Highland is kept in the Shumerian inscriptions dating back to the 27th century B.C. According to the Bible the God created human beings in Heaven, from which flows four rivers, two of which, river Eprat and Tigris, starts from Armenian Highland. So according to the Bible Armenia is the Heaven area. Another proof about this is the fact that after the Great Flood Noy and his survived people sheltered on the top of mt. Ararat. There are neither skyscrapers nor fashionable sea resorts here, but you can find ancient culture that boasts of  a three-thousand-year-old history. There are more than 4000 historical landmarks on its territory. Austere and solemn, they stand as living witnesses of the eventful history of Armenia. The country is a member of the Commonwealth of Independent Countries. In 1992 it became a member of the U N O.

Yerevan

is one of the oldest cities of the world, a peer of Rome, Cartagen and Samarqand. Unlike many other cities, the date of the foundation of which is moot or, in the best case, is obscured by myths and legends and thus subject to guesswork, Yerevan has a <birth certificate> the authenticity of which is beyond doubt. Yerevan is situated in the north eastern part of the Ararat Valley. The upland Yerevan is fringed by mountains on three sides, and only to the south it freely descends down to the Arax River valley. During archaeological excavations, in the 1950s on the Arin Berd hill (within Yerevan city limits), a cuneiform inscription was uncovered, carved on a rock slate upon the orders of king Argishti first in 782 B.C. The inscription affirms that king Argishti the first built this fortress and called it Erebuni. Yerevan drives its name from the fortress Erebuni. Modern day Yerevan takes up 210 square km, its population is 1.249 thousand people. YEREVAN IS A VERY HOSPITABLE CITY. NOWHERE IN THE WORLD YOU WILL FIND SUCH TRADITIONS OF RECEIVING GUESTS.
